Phil’s Bush Cleanup

I love to give back to the local community by running community clean up events where we remove illegally dumped rubbish and abandoned vehicles from local bushland. I am committed to transforming local Fish Habitat Zones, fragile biodiversity reserves and our local National Parks back to their natural state by removing all the illegally dumped rubbish. I achieve this by working closely with state and local Government Departments.

Our Immediate Outcomes:

  • Remove illegally dumped rubbish from Fish Habitat Zones and mangroves in the Townsville Port Access Road reserve area, preventing it from washing out into the ocean and degrade the water quality of The Great Barrier Reef.
  • Remove the illegally dumped rubbish from tidal flats to improve declared fish habitat zones and reducing the impact from cyclones.
  • To ensure access tracks around the power line infrastructure is cleared of rubbish so maintenance vehicles can get to the area to carry out maintenance work during disasters.
  • Remove rubbish from the vehicle tracks for emergency vehicles to traverse the area to fight fires and tend to emergencies.
  • Remove abandoned and deteriorated structures that have become an environmental hazard.
  • Raise awareness of illegal dumping on social media and in the community.
  • Allow the Queensland Parks & Wildlife Rangers to carry out other duties without having to continuously deal with illegally dumped rubbish.
Phil’s Bush Cleanup is a member group under North Queensland Conservation Council, NQCC, as is covered within their insurance policies. We are also involved in the Illegal Dumping Committee formed here in North Queensland.
Phil’s Bush Cleanup works closely with the landowners and all levels of Government. Written permission has been granted to Phil’s Bush Cleanup to carry out and undertake community cleanup events on all the land parcels that we operate on.

We give back

One at a time.
Over the past few years Phil’s Bush Cleanup has completed many community events within the Townsville Port Access Road Reserve and has removed more than 40,000 kgs of illegally dumped rubbish while also maintaining the condition of the vehicle tracks and power line access. This rubbish has been removed from fish habitat zones, estuary run off areas, mangrove swamps and salt couch marshes.
